Recently, there have been threats circulating in the form of false notifications of charges to folks’ credit cards or “accounts” with a variety of services, such as amazon. In many cases, the recipient (possibly you) doesn’t even have an account with amazon, PayPal, or the account mentioned in the email.
Under no circumstances should you reply to these messages or call the number listed on these messages. The goal of these individuals is to get bank account or credit card information from you so they can steal your money.
If you have any questions about the veracity of the claim, you should contact your issuing bank and discuss it with them, and only them. They will advise you on the best course of action to take.
